This past weekend was the Decatur Book Festival in Decatur, Georgia. You might remember my posts (here and here) from last year and the epicness that occurred? Well, this year was pretty awesome as well!
There were less authors I HAD to meet this trip which just meant more time with my girlies. A few ladies from last year couldn’t make it (we missed them a lot!) but a few additional ladies made it this year too so it was still EPIC! :)
We were able to hear David Levithan, Erin Morgenstern, Maureen Johnson, and a handful of other authors speak. The signing lines were long and they had moved the teen stage outside so we were extremely hot and tired during the 90+ degree day. Oh, don’t forget the humidity! It was a lot for this pregnant lady to handle! The authors all talked about writing, reading, and their lives and gave some great inspiration and motivation to people like me who are daydreamer writers. I feel a bit more jazzed about my writing since hearing their comments!
We spent the evenings and nights recovering from the heat – eating pizza in our jammies in the hotel room playing Phase 10 and staying up far too late at night chatting. This trip, at least for me, was more a trip of friendship and less a trip of author sightings. With having a little infant come next August/September I know I won’t be going next year. I’m hoping to see some of these amazing ladies at different events/functions/vacations next year, but probably not as many as I would like.
I came home with a signed copy of:
The Night Circus
The Name of the Star
Bear Says Thanks (for Sammie and Baby #2)
A few more in the Goddess Girls series by Joan Holub (for Sammie and Baby #2)
I didn’t buy myself a single book while I was there. I had planned on buying David Levithan’s newest book Every Day…but they sold out before the signing even started. I was a bit bummed to say the least.
I didn’t take a ton of photos, partly because it was smokin’ hot and none of us looked our best, and partly because we were having so much fun I kind of forgot! But here are the ones I did take. Enjoy!
- Erin Morgenstern’s signing. It was in the AC. We were pleased.
- Erin and Julie

Sounds like SO much fun! I hope I will have the chance to go one day. Looks like it was a fun NBC GTG too :)
